The Ladder Loft Room Room is a cozy space that feels like being in the helm of a boat. This room is surrounded by windows and screened openings on three sides. The ladder is designed like the stairs of a sailboat with a handle carved into each rung. The room is somewhat visually private from the common areas below. If you enjoy the sounds of the Hawaiian rains, tree frogs and ocean, this space is for you. There is also a large desk and chair workspace with a small streaming TV and two connected bluetooth headphones for silent watching.
Aloha! Kehena Mauka Nui Club is a clothing optional and gay/LGBTQIA+ guesthouse located steps away from Kehena Beach, a clothing optional black sand beach in the Puna district of the Big Island of Hawaii. We encourage our guests to meet each other and be social to experience the true gift of travel: the people you meet along the way. Breakfast is not automatically included in the room rate. However, we offer several on-site breakfast options for purchase.
Place is Greate ForKehena Mauka Nui Club is the perfect place to relax and unwind in a secluded and natural setting. The property is just a short walk from Kehena Black Sand Beach, where you can swim, sunbathe, snorkel, or simply relax and enjoy the scenery.
+ MoreI live on-site and enjoy meeting guests and helping them with suggestions and local insights for visiting the area. The Guesthouse also hosts weekly (each Monday) on-property, gay social events where guests are encouraged to attend/mingle. These events are hosted in the gardens of the property (not inside the house). A licensed massage therapist also lives on-site. We will send you information to book these services upon check-in.
About NeighborhoodThe Ladder Loft Room Room is a cozy space that feels like being in the helm of a boat. The house is just minutes on foot to Kehena Beach (Hawaii's premiere clothing optional beach). A short drive up the road you will find the hot ponds at Pohoiki, where you may float and soak in the hot salty water. We foster a guesthouse experience where our visitors are encouraged to interact and intermingle, while having the ability to retreat to their own private room spaces. Free coffee is provided in the morning and on-site breakfast options are available for purchase.
Guest can AccessAll of the rooms in the house have access to the shared hot tub, two full shared bathrooms, shared full kitchen and common gathering spaces, such as the living room, porches, and dining area.
Get AroundRegardless of whether or not you choose to stay with us you should definitely plan on renting a vehicle for your stay on the Big Island. The island is quite large and the sights and attractions are quite spread out. The island does operate a public transit system, however we do not recommend it as it is somewhat unreliable and only runs a few times per day.
OtherIMPORTANT: 1) You must be able to climb the ladder steps (pictured) in order to access this room. 2) This is an open loft room above the shared living room, dining room and kitchen. We maintain quiet hours from 9pm till 8am in the common spaces below to provide peaceful rest in the room but you may hear other guests passing through in the night. We are able to provide earplugs upon request. 3) Our cat (pictured) is able to access this space and it is not possible to keep her out if you are allergic or do not like cats. Even though this is listed as a "shared room", you will have the entire loft space to yourself and no one else will be sleeping there. We listed it that way because it is open to the common spaces below. House Rules: Please remove your shoes in the house. Quiet Hours from 9pm till 8am. No unregistered guests. No children/minors allowed (this is an adults only property). Events are allowed, but all parties and events must be pre-approved by the manager and additional fees will apply. Pets are not allowed (service animals specifically trained to aide persons with disabilities are permitted). Smoking is not allowed indoors and smoking outside must be done in areas where the smoke will not blow into the open house.
